Martin Sreba – VP Global Strategic Accounts

Martin brings a wealth of experience as a product strategist and in growing businesses. A highly respected leader in the financial software and services industry known for the global expansion of SS&C Advent. During his 18 year tenure he rose to Global Head of Product Strategy and Sales, responsible for business growth and product direction for various portfolio management solutions, including Geneva, the most widely leveraged investment management system in the alternative industry.

Stephen Murphy – CEO & Co-Founder

Stephen graduated with a 1st in BSc Computer Science and has held senior business & “C-level” technology positions for some of the worlds leading investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, HSBC & BTG Pactual. During his career he has lived in São Paulo, New York, Hong Kong & London.

Stephen has managed teams of over 250 people, technology budgets over $100 million and supported business lines with over $500 million of revenue. Stephen also led from a client perspective key multi-million dollar contracts negotiations with major software vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, SunGard, Murex, Calypso, Charles River and Fidessa.

James Harrison – COO & Co-Founder

James has over 20 years experience in senior technology, development & implementation roles for some of the worlds leading investment banks including Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, HSBC and vendors incl. Fidessa. During his career James has lived in New York, London, & Hong Kong.

Prior to genesis global, James was regarded as one of the leaders in this field, managing global technical teams in supporting & delivering mission-critical, real-time systems for tier 1 global banking institutions needing their trading businesses to run near 24-7.

    Sebastian Galvao – Lead Solutions Developer

    Sebastian is a hands-on software development manager with over 17 years of experience in this industry. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science, is a Certified Scrum Master and book author on Big Data/Machine Learning. During his career Sebastian has lived in the U.S., Ireland and Brazil being responsible for technical architecture, implementation and project management in leading international companies such as IBM, HSBC Insurance, HSBC Bank, Bank BTG Pactual and Ericsson.

    Henrique Barbosa – VP of Americas

    Henrique graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007 with a BA in International Relations.
    Prior to joining genesis, Henrique was a professional athlete including swimming in both the Beijing (2008) and London (2012) Olympic Games. In addition to this, Henrique was a medallist in the Swimming World Championship and Pan-American games and he still holds the South-American record on the 200 meters breaststroke. He was also a sports television commentator for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Henrique is a co-founder of Dream Big Club which helps international athletes get scholarships into US universities.
    Henrique has just over 3 years of industry experience and joined genesis as our VP of Americas, overseeing the business in US and Brazil, managing our offshore team and supporting our international clients. He currently manages a variety of projects and helps to develop innovative solutions.

    Shruti Agarwal – Senior Solution Analyst

    Shruti is certified business analyst professional (CBAP®) with over 14 years of experience in financial services and banking industry. She is an expert in managing end-to-end implementations using her strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills. She has a rich experience of working in various roles in different geographical locations including India, London, The Netherlands and Brazil.

    Jennifer Steele – Senior Product Developer

    Senior Product Developer at Genesis Global Technology, a Capital Markets software company helping firms adapt and innovate their business. Jennifer has over a decade of experience developing and implementing tech products, working with global firms Vodafone, Fidessa and Omgeo (DTCC). She studied Mathematics at the University of Bath where she discovered a passion for coding. After graduating, she went on to study in London, achieving a first class MSc in Computer Science from Imperial College. At genesis, she is technical owner of several their most high-profile and widely used products, leading technical design, development and ongoing support. She made partner at the firm within her first year and leads the way in promoting genesis as a supporter of diversity in tech.

    James Ferguson – Head of New Business

    James graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc in Business Management.

    He has over 10 years’ experience in the financial services and information technology sector.

    Prior to joining genesis, James spent 11 years at Bloomberg with his most recent role there being Sales Director where he managed a team of SDRs in the enterprise sales division across multiple emerging markets territories. James was responsible for managing and growing revenue of terminals, risk systems, OMS, enterprise data and regulatory solutions.

    James joins genesis as Head of New Business Development with responsibility for new client engagements within EMEA, presenting genesis’ Low Code Application capabilities to new and existing clients in order to continuously help them to innovate, adapt and transform their business models.

    Pieternal Kimman – Sales Manager

    Pieternel graduated top of her class from Bath University with a MSc in Innovation & Technology Management and holds a BSc Systems Engineering from the Delft University of Technology.

    Prior to joining genesis, Pieternel worked in investment banking as a Mergers & Acquisitions analyst at Rothschild & Co. She brings to the table her entrepreneurial mindset, affinity for technology innovation and finance experience. Pieternel is born in the Netherlands and was raised in a global expat family.

    Pieternal joins genesis as a Sales Manager based out of our London office with responsibility for growing the company’s revenue by bringing new business into the firm, managing and upselling current accounts, renewing contracts and offering world class customer service to our clients and prospects.

    David Pearson – Head of Post Trade Service

    David has over 30 years of experience working in IT solutions architecture and strategy in financial markets principally in London and the European markets as well as the US.  David’s role at genesis is to manage the product strategy for the post-trade suite of products, looking at the opportunities across the buy-side, sell-side and market infrastructure providers to provide workflow automation solutions.

    David joined genesis from Fidessa where he worked for 25 years, initially with sell-side brokers and dealers to build and implement front and middle workflow solutions for equities, and more recently with the buy-side asset managers to challenge the status quo in other asset classes including exchange traded derivatives and Repo.  Prior to Fidessa David worked at Data Sciences on a number of bespoke projects including the COLT system that was prevalent in London at the time of the 1987 market restructuring.

    David has a BSc (Hons) in Geology from the University of London, and Masters in IT from the University of Warwick.  In his spare time he plays Eb bass tuba, and is a keen bell-ringer.

    Caue Teixeira – VP of Innovation

    Caue has over 10 years of experience in the financial markets, responsible for implementing, managing and supporting mission-critical trading systems for Merrill Lynch and BTG Pactual broker dealer and proprietary desk. He also acted as quantitative trader/developer for market making and arbitrage strategies.

    Jose Pozo – Head of Core Development

    Jose graduated with a MSc in Computation Software Techniques in Engineering from the University of Cranfield, and a MSc in Computer Engineering from University of Lleida in Spain as well as 1st class honours degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the same university.

    Jose is a first-class computer scientist, with over 5 years’ experience developing high performance, highly scalable solutions and is the chief architect at genesis.

    Prior to joining genesis, Jose worked for Misys in London focussed on GPU software development.

    Jose currently leads the core development team and has overall responsibility for all Core development within genesis.

    Jay Taylerson – VP of Product Development

    Jay graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury.

    Jay is a truly first-class finance technology professional, with 10 years experience developing solutions for tier 1 banks whilst working at Fidessa in London, New York and Hong Kong onsite at Lehman Brothers & Credit Suisse.

    Jay currently leads all technical design, development & implementation for genesis enterprise clients spreading his time onsite working directly with the clients and the internal development teams.

    Joseph Adam – VP of Engineering

    Joseph is an accomplished and creative professional Senior Engineering Manager with more than 20 years’ experience of software development, mainly focused on Web and 10 years’ experience as a manager of managers combined with closer to 20 years’ Financial Industry knowledge.

    Nick Kolba – Global Head of Platform

    Nick brings a wealth of financial technology experience in global, high-growth and blue-chip firms. He has spent the past 20 years leading enterprise-wide technology projects as both Chief Technology and Product Officer at OpenFin and, prior to that, as a Technology Director at Thomson Reuters, where he led the development of the Eikon App Studio.

    During Nick’s most recent role at OpenFin, he co-founded the FINOS FDC3 programme, an interoperability standard with over 100 participants from 40+ financial firms representing major sell-side, buy-side, and vendor firms across the industry. In addition to this, he was also program lead of FDC3 within the FINOS community along with serving on the board.

    Nick joins genesis as Global Head of Platform with the responsibility for delivering the firm’s technology strategy. In response to the ever-growing industry appreciation and appetite for low code development, Nick will help accelerate client adoption of genesis and its Low Code Application Platform.

    Erik Olsen – Group Financial Controller

    Erik runs the finance function at genesis and has been in the technology sector for over 20 years having worked both in finance and business development roles.

    Prior to joining genesis, Erik worked with a hedge fund and other start up technology companies including Bloomberg, where he ran a team that was responsible for operational business development and account management at banks such as BAML, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse.

    Felipe Oliveira – Head of Sales & Marketing

    Felipe brings a wealth of capital markets and commercial leadership experience in global, high-growth firms. He held a senior role at Amber Capital Management, a global multi-billion dollar Risk Arbitrage Hedge Fund, leading investment initiatives across the capital markets spectrum. Recently, Felipe worked at Costa Coffee and LRS Suntory, the fourth largest beverage business in the world, in commercial planning and strategy roles. Early in his career, he worked at Bloomberg Tradebook and went on to build a broker-dealer business in New York for Brazil’s largest independent broker dealer, Agora Senior Securities Corp, acquired since by Banco Bradesco.

    Darren Newby – Solutions Director

    Darren joined genesis as Solutions Director in September 2018. As a senior member of the client facing team, Darren will be applying his deep product marketing expertise to match requirements with solutions that have been, or can be, built using the genesis microservices framework.

    Immediately prior to joining genesis, Darren was most recently at Ullink (Itiviti) where he was Director of Connectivity Solutions. Darren has also held senior client facing sales and service roles at respected technology vendors; including Fidessa (ION), Thomson Reuters (refinitiv) and Trading Screen.

    Juarez Neto – Head of Americas Sales

    Neto joins genesis with over 10 years’ industry experience. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with concentration in Finance from St. Francis College, Brooklyn, NY, USA.  He also has an EMBA in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

    Before joining genesis  Neto worked at Fidessa (ION) New York with responsibility from a support perspective for Tier 1 client implementations at Merrill Lynch, BTG Pactual, Itau and Santander. He then transferred to Brazil where he was Head of the Latam Service Desk and helped expand the Latam business and increasing recurring revenue in the region.

    Neto was also responsible for growing the company revenue at ULLINK (Itiviti). In 2018 he was directly involved in leading the company from a pre-sales perspective for the Americas to reach 171% of the quote for Latam, growing the region by 60%.

    Neto joins genesis as Head of Americas Sales and Account Management with responsibility for growing the company’s revenue by bringing new business into the firm, managing and upselling current accounts, renewing contracts and offering world class customer service to our clients and prospects. He is in charge of developing quarterly/annual sales targets for the department, examining growth opportunities, enabling sales improvements, product mix development, and taking responsibility for the department’s performance against targets.

    Neto is currently an active Auxiliary Police Officer within the NYPD.

    Mark Ryland – Head of Product Strategy

    Mark is Head of Product Strategy at genesis having joined the company in November 2018.

    He has wide and varied experience in Financial Services technology; embracing trading systems, analytics, algorithms, connectivity, post trade, prime services and other areas.

    Mark led many large projects & IT groups in firms including UBS, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Société General Newedge and HSBC, where he was Global Head of Equities & Futures IT.

    He also has experience market infrastructure having held roles as COO of the Swiss stock exchange and Head of Technology of one of the London Stock Exchange Group markets (Turquoise).

    Mark’s vendor experience includes helping a start-up testing services company to grow (Exactpro) and most recently, strategy work at Fidessa.

    Ray Chee – Head of Solutions Delivery

    Ray is Head of Solutions Delivery at genesis having joined the company in July 2019 to manage delivery across client accounts and contribute to the senior leadership team as we execute our growth strategy.

    Ray has over 25 years experience as a senior technologist and leader in a number of top tier financial services organisations including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Nomura, NatWest Markets and the Royal Bank of Scotland, creating and leading teams of up to 100 and delivering projects in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Zurich, Singapore, Gurugram amongst others to meet critical business needs from front to back office across a wide range of business verticals; locally, regionally and globally.

    Simon McDowell – Chief Commercial Officer

    Simon is Chief Commercial Officer of genesis, having joined the company full time in September 2018. Simon is responsible for the client-facing side of the business, uses his in-depth experience of capital markets and his commercial management skills to build success at genesis and help clients navigate the ever-changing business landscape.

    Simon started as a programmer in Lloyds Bank but his capital markets career started at Philips and Drew (acquired by UBS) in 1987. After a spell at Credit Suisse, Simon was part of the team that migrated to Nomura. He joined Fidessa in 1996 and was there for 15 years, growing the business across all continents. Moving to NYSE Technologies, the commercial technology division of the New York Stock Exchange, based in London, as COO. When it was broken up, Simon was part of the team that bought the NYFIX business into Ullink.

    Prior to genesis, Simon was Head of Sales and Account Management, at niche technology vendor Fixnetix, a DXC company.

    Mark Beeston – Board of Directors

    Mark Beeston founded Illuminate after a 25+ year career in capital markets where he had been both the consumer of capital markets technologies as well as the entrepreneur, operator, and funder of capital markets businesses. Prior to founding Illuminate, Mark was the CEO for the Post Trade Risk and Information business at ICAP (now Nex) where he oversaw the creation of ICAP’s own investment subsidiary. Prior to ICAP Mark launched T-Zero (now ICELink) during his time at Creditex before the company was acquired by ICE in 2008. He started his career with 13 years at Deutsche Bank in derivatives trading and management, including periods as COO for both the Global Rates and Global Credit businesses. Mark has an undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Mark was listed on the Institutional Investor Fintech Finance 35 and top 40 Lists, Financial News Fintech 40 Power List, Institutional Investor Trade Technology Top 30 and Top 40 Lists, and Derivatives Intelligence/Derivatives Week Rising Stars.

    Nick Ogurtsov – Board of Directors

    NICK OGURTSOV is current Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer at Libra Services, Inc., a software company focused on providing accounting, tax solutions, middle- and back-office solutions for the blockchain/crypto industry. Previously, he was COO and CRO at KCG, a publicly listed global market-making firm which traded equities, fixed income, commodities, FX and derivatives globally. During that time, Nick also served on the Board of Directors of DTCC. Prior to that he was Global Head of EMM Group at UBS Investment Bank where he ran a global high-frequency proprietary trading unit. Nick started his career as a convertible bond trader at SBC Warburg. Nick Ogurtsov earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Computer Science from Beloit College and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Arizona.

    Ray M. Tierney III – Strategic Advisor

    Raymond M. Tierney III is based in New York and previously oversaw Bloomberg’s agency broker, Bloomberg Tradebook LCC, and all aspects of Bloomberg’s sell-side equity and order management solutions (SSEOMS), including product innovation, sales and strategy.

    In 2016, Mr Tierney led Institutional Investors annual Trading Technology 40 ranking #1 on the list, recognizing his achievements leading global teams to advance trading technology at Bloomberg.

    From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Tierney served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Bloomberg Tradebook LLC. The agency broker partners with institutional traders, broker-dealers, hedge fund managers, plan sponsors, market makers and portfolio managers to provide high-quality liquidity, market insight and customized solutions based on innovative technologies.

    Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr. Tierney was at Morgan Stanley for 16 years, starting in 1994 as an Executive Director and Senior Sales Trader. He was elected a Managing Director in 1998 and named Head of North America Cash Sales Trading in 2004. Mr. Tierney was named Global Head of Equity Trading for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in 2006, responsible for leading MSIM’s worldwide trading efforts. He started his Wall Street career as a Trader at Paine Webber (1981–1986), served as a Vice President at First Boston (1986–1991), and was a Vice President and Sales Trader at UBS Warburg (1991–1994).

    Mr. Tierney received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University. He serves on the boards of Ronald McDonald House and the National Organization of Investment Professionals (NOIP).
